How to care for your ribbon necklace

It's a question I get asked a lot, especially when a customer is interested in the paler colour necklaces I make. Will it get dirty? Can I wash it? Well maybe and Yes! (depending on how dirty your neck is haha! Mine, in the summer when it's covered in sun cream would be quite dirty I suspect). Sun cream or other moisturisers are probably going to be the main thing getting on your ribbon (or scarf necklace) and making it look a little worn.

It's really easy to clean though and these necklaces are pretty robust so just hand wash it in some warm water with detergent or even just hand soap and it will be fine. Hang it to dry so that the ribbon dries straight and flat.

The colour does not come out of the ribbon. If your necklaces is made with glass beads it's fine to get the whole thing wet but if there are cotton pearls in the mix, best to just wash the ribbon part and keep the beads more or less dry.

With the scarf necklaces, also easy to hand wash in the same way, but there may be some colour bleed from the dyed wooden beads, so take care with that, most designs will be ok but if in doubt don't get that bit wet. You'll need to run an iron over the fabric after washing and drying it, all necklaces are either silk or cotton, no synthetics so a medium to hot iron will be fine.
