Jungle animals mobile
I mentioned in an earlier post how I had made a mobile for my son while he was a baby, it was something I wanted to do and then saw lots of ideas on Pinterest (here's my mobiles board). He was a few weeks old when I started and I used the materials I had at home already, mostly bits of felt and some other fabrics. It didn't really have a theme, there were some clouds, a bee, an airplane, a hot air balloon and all attached to a wire hanger covered with some silk fabric to look like a cloud.
Little boy loved it, the first time he laughed was looking up at his mobile, the red airplane was a particular favourite. I made several more as commissions (and if you'd like to commission one then please do contact me, they sell for GBP45) One was a farm theme with tractors, cows, sheep and pigs etc.
Unfortunately the first one got a bit bashed and it always annoyed me that it wasn't better thought out with a unifying theme so I have made a new one for baby sister. This one is jungle theme, not so girly but I wanted a nice one that both children can enjoy and my husband is Kenyan so the African animals theme kind of runs through our son's toys and decor .
It was great fun to make this and pretty easy too, I usually sit stitching at the table when our son is in bed and my husband is watching TV. It's a bug bear of his that I don't ever sit and watch TV without something in my hands, but frankly there's rarely anything on worth watching with such avid attention! It's too boring not to be sewing or knitting something at the same time ;)
